Suspected terrorists responsible for the mass abduction of a bride and several wedding guests in Chacho village, Wurno local government area of Sokoto state, have contacted the victims’ family two days after the attack, but their communication did not involve a demand for ransom.

Dependable NG reports that the father of the bride, Malam Umaru Chacho, spoke to journalists in Chacho village, confirming that the abductors placed a call to the family and explicitly requested to be connected with the traditional ruler of the community.

Malam Umaru detailed the strange exchange: “When they called they said we should connect them with the traditional ruler of the town. We refused and asked them to speak to us instead, but they declined, insisting that they wanted to speak with our traditional ruler.”

Chacho disclosed that a total of 13 persons were abducted during the violent attack, comprising 11 females and two males. Several other individuals sustained injuries in the incident. He revealed the severity of the violence, noting: “A relative of the bride who resisted the terrorists was shot and sustained a severe gunshot injury that almost took his life.”
