Soludo Security Under Fire After Nawfia Attack

The recent violent attack on Sunday night at the Afor Market Junction in Nawfia community, Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA), which reportedly left multiple casualties, has fiercely reignited concerns over the effectiveness of the Anambra State security apparatus and drawn sharp criticism of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s handling of the crisis.

Dependable NG reports that John Chuma Nwosu, the All Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate for last month’s election, described the attack as “distressing” and condemned it in the strongest terms.

In a statement released on Monday, Nwosu highlighted what he labeled as the “overstretched and inadequate” nature of the state’s current security framework, arguing that the rising crime rate is alarming and that Governor Soludo’s existing security architecture is no longer effective.

The ADC candidate strongly urged the state government to immediately embrace modern, technology-driven security solutions. His proposed solutions include implementing real-time surveillance systems, advanced communication networks, and data-driven early-warning tools designed to prevent threats and enable rapid response.

Nwosu further advocated for the swift establishment of a functional command-and-control center, the deployment of drones, and the installation of AI-enabled facial recognition cameras across the state.

While calling on Ndi Anambra (Anambra people) to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies, Nwosu emphasized the urgency of overhauling the state’s security measures. He concluded by saying, “Technology is the future,” urging Governor Soludo to carefully consider his proposed blueprint for a safer and more secure Anambra. The Nawfia community received condolences from Nwosu, who described the incident as a moment of grief for the entire state.
