Peter Obi is Tinubu’s Only Real Fear for 2027 – CUPP Secretary Claims

The National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Peter Ameh, has sensationally claimed that the Bola Tinubu-led administration is deeply concerned about the growing political influence of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dependable NG reports that Ameh made this assertion during an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on The Micon Podcast. He stated that his position is based on extensive data collection and engagements carried out “behind closed doors,” which, he claims, reveal that Obi is the only candidate the incumbent government considers a genuine threat.

Ameh alleged that the government is making deliberate efforts to prevent Obi from even appearing on the ballot paper in the next election cycle.

To buttress his claim of a prevailing fear, Ameh pointed to the repeated targeting of Obi by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga in his posts on social media. “Go and count how many times Bayo Onanuga has posted about Peter Obi on his on his Twitter page. He’s worried about Peter Obi. They’re worried. They don’t talk anything without talking about Peter Obi,” Ameh insisted.

He further argued that President Tinubu is not afraid of other potential contenders such as Atiku Abubakar or Rotimi Amaechi, insisting that the political establishment is uniquely concerned about Obi’s rising popularity and proven ability to mobilize votes.

Ameh referenced Obi’s impact in the 2023 election as the source of the current anxiety: “It took the Mr Peter Obi to garner about 1 million votes that was reduced to 500,000 votes. It took a Peter Obi to come to FCT where there was seat of power to defeat the APC.”
