Nsukka Stakeholders Mourn Senator Okey Ezea, Seek Sustained Unity

Stakeholders from the Nsukka Local Government Area, operating under the umbrella of the Nsukka Concerned Citizens Forum, convened on Wednesday and described the passing of Senator Okey Ezea as profoundly painful and heartbreaking.

Dependable NG reports that Senator Ezea, who until his recent death represented the Enugu North Senatorial Zone, passed away in Lagos State due to complications arising from a surgery.

During their meeting in Enugu, the Nsukka Concerned Citizens Forum issued a communique signed by the conveners—Rt Hon Engr Ogbo Asogwa, Rt Hon Dr Chinedu Nwamba, and Hon Amos Agbo. They unanimously characterized Ezea’s death as a huge loss, not only to his immediate family but also to the entire populace of the Enugu North Senatorial zone, Enugu State, and Nigeria at large.

Meanwhile, addressing the ongoing voter registration exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the group strongly advocated for voting centers to be made easily accessible to all citizens.

“Our group will embark on massive sensitization of voters during the period of registration,” the communique stated. “Our team will engage the Independent National Electoral Commission to provide accessible registration centres in all places where people are mobilized for the ease of registration.”

The Forum also affirmed its total support for the developmental agenda of His Excellency Governor Peter Mbah, as outlined in his manifesto, while specifically asking him to factor Nsukka into these projects and appointments.

They further disclosed that various sensitization methods, including deployment in churches, traditional institutions, markets, and traditional and digital media, would be used to ensure citizens fully take advantage of the voter registration exercise. The group also pledged to ensure that the unity of the Nsukka people “as a bloc must be sustained,” promising to build strong working relationships with critical stakeholders.
