NDLEA Seizes 76 Tons of Drugs, Arrests Suspects

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced a massive nationwide haul, confirming that its operatives recovered over 7.6 million tramadol pills and a total of 76,273.4 kilograms (76.2 tons) of various strains of cannabis, including Colorado, Loud, and Skunk, with several drug trafficking suspects arrested.

Dependable NG reports that this was disclosed in a comprehensive statement on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media & Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, detailing operations across at least 10 states. The opioid seizures included not less than 3,874,000 tramadol pills (225mg and 100mg) and 252.2 liters of codeine syrup recovered from a warehouse at Oko Market, Asaba, Delta State, on Saturday, December 6,2025.

Further operations targeting opioids saw the seizure of 1.2 million tablets of tramadol 225mg from a suspect, Kelechi Nwakocha (35), along the Onitsha–Owerri Road in Imo State. In Adamawa State, officers intercepted a Toyota Hiace bus carrying 1,577,112 tramadol and Exol-5 capsules concealed inside jumbo bags mixed with new rubber sandals and slippers, leading to the arrest of Kabiru Buba (25) and Hamza Abubakar (32).

The agency also focused on cannabis cultivation and trafficking. Operatives raided forests in Omuo-Ekiti, Ekiti State, destroying 14,654 kilograms of Skunk and arresting two suspects, Yusuf Iliyasu (50) and Okumu Chinedu (26). A separate operation in Asin-Ekiti resulted in the destruction of an additional 54,300kg of Skunk in two large warehouses.

Following actionable intelligence, NDLEA operatives raided Igoba Forest in Akure North LGA, Ondo State, recovering 5,442 kilograms of Skunk and arresting five suspects, including Jacob Omodowo (66). In Lagos State, operatives recovered 113kg of Canadian Loud from Ezenwa Udoka at Ladipo Market, Mushin. Other arrests included Izuchukwu Usulor with 351kg of Skunk and Susan Okoro with 104.1kg. A total of 447.5 kilograms of Skunk was recovered from two vehicles in Agho Forest, Akoko Edo LGA, Edo State, leading to the arrest of Dada Adedara Babawibi (56).
