Keown Tips Aston Villa to Challenge Arsenal, Man City for EPL Title

Former England and Arsenal defender Martin Keown has named the team he firmly believes will emerge as a serious contender to challenge both Arsenal and Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.

Dependable NG reports that according to Keown, Aston Villa could emerge as the dark horses in the title race. Unai Emery’s men currently occupy third place in the table with 30 points, placing them just three points behind the leaders, Arsenal. Manchester City holds second spot with 31 points.

While Villa manager Unai Emery has been quick to publicly downplay his team’s title credentials, Keown remains convinced that the Midlands club has the capacity to mount a serious challenge for the prestigious Premier League trophy.

“Unai Emery doesn’t want to create too much pressure or attraction around his team,” Keown said on talkSPORT. “We have to say that, yes, Aston Villa are in the title race. I do think they are and that’s more to do with their manager than anything else. Emery has turned them into title challengers.”
