Kano Fire Service Issues Warning: Be Cautious With Fire This Harmattan Season
The Kano State Fire Service has issued a strong advisory urging residents to exercise extreme caution when handling fire as the annual harmattan season commences, noting that the dry period inherently carries a high risk of fire outbreaks.
Dependable NG reports that the warning was issued in a statement signed by Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service.
The advisory coincides with the official launch of this year’s harmattan fire awareness campaign by the Director of the Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, during a meeting held on Wednesday.
Speaking at the launch, Anas stated that the campaign’s core objective is to educate the public on the amplified dangers posed by fire during the dry season. He made a direct appeal to all residents to be highly vigilant and cautious while handling fire during the harmattan.
He stressed that a significant number of fire incidents can be successfully prevented by simply adhering to basic safety measures. Furthermore, Anas directed the Fire Prevention Unit to immediately intensify its public sensitisation efforts and ensure the full and effective implementation of the campaign across all communities within the state.
