Jigawa State Approves Over N30 Billion for Major Road Projects

The Jigawa State Government has given its approval for the construction of three significant road projects located within the Miga Local Government Area, with a collective expenditure exceeding N30 billion.

Dependable NG reports that Governor Malam Umar Namadi made the announcement while officially flagging off the construction of the Tsakuwa–Koya–Kafin Hausa road in Miga. The Governor emphasised that Miga is one of the state’s crucial agricultural zones, possessing extensive Fadama and irrigation facilities that support farming throughout the year.

The road projects, the Governor explained, are designed to significantly improve market access, streamline the transportation of farm produce, and ultimately boost overall economic activities within the region. Governor Namadi specified that the 30-kilometre Tsakuwa–Koya–Kafin Hausa feeder road, which was awarded at a cost of N7 billion, is scheduled for completion within 12 months.

Governor Namadi confirmed that this project is part of three major road infrastructure initiatives being executed by the state government in Miga Local Government, demonstrating a commitment to fulfilling core campaign promises. The announcement was made during the Governor’s visit to Miga for the Government Citizens Engagement Programme (Gwamnatin Da Jama’a), where he also commissioned a new rural electrification project in Koya Village.

During the engagement event, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdullahi Kainuwa, detailed the various health interventions implemented in the local government over the past two years. These interventions include the renovation of the Miga General Hospital and other primary health facilities, the recruitment of new health workers, and the enrolment of over 7,000 vulnerable residents into the state’s Social Health Insurance Scheme. Furthermore, the Commissioner for Education revealed the government’s substantial investment of over N5 billion in renovating and constructing classrooms, alongside providing essential furniture and learning materials to schools across the area.

The Governor concluded the event by reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to both infrastructure development and human capital investment, aiming to fundamentally improve the living standards of all citizens across Jigawa State.
