Governor Umo Eno has taken a decisive step toward ensuring a seamless political transition in Akwa Ibom State by establishing a seven-member Congress Implementation Committee. The committee is tasked with overseeing the upcoming 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) congresses. During the inauguration ceremony held at the Government House Banquet Hall in Uyo, the Governor called for deep collaboration and extensive consultations to ensure that the exercise strengthens the party’s structures across the state.
Strategic Leadership and Committee Composition
The newly formed team is led by Enobong Uwah, who will serve as Chairman, with Dr. Patrick Umoh acting as the Secretary. Other notable members appointed to the committee include Frank Archibong, Mr. Nsentip Akpabio, Architect Ubokutom Nyah, Engr. Uwem Okoko, and Mrs. Owoidighe Ekpoattai. In his address to the committee, Governor Eno emphasized the need for a unified front, encouraging party members to remain dedicated to the core values of the APC to better serve the collective interests of the people. Bipartisan Commendation and the Vision for Unity
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who was present at the event, lauded Governor Eno for his exceptional ability to bring various political stakeholders together. Akpabio noted that the current atmosphere of peace and cooperation in Akwa Ibom is a fulfillment of a long-standing desire for a state united by development rather than divided by politics. He publicly thanked the Governor for the confidence shown in the state’s veteran political leaders and for fostering an environment where no external forces can easily create division among the people.
The APC State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukepo, also expressed his gratitude, describing Governor Eno as a visionary leader whose commitment to state-wide unity is remarkable. Similar sentiments of support and admiration were shared by several other high-ranking officials, including the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo, and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong. These stakeholders collectively highlighted the importance of the collaborative relationship between the Governor and the Senate President as a cornerstone for the state’s future progress.
