APGA Asserts Status as Nigeria’s Most Stable Political Force

As Nigeria steps into a pivotal year of political realignments, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is positioning itself as the singular beacon of stability in an otherwise turbulent partisan landscape. In a stirring New Year message delivered this Friday, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, the National Vice Chairman of APGA for the South-East zone, declared that the party has emerged as the “healthiest and most grass-rooted” political entity in the country. This bold assertion comes at a time when Nigeria’s major opposition parties are grappling with deep-seated internal fractures and leadership disputes, a chaos from which Ehiemere claims APGA is uniquely exempt.

Addressing a gathering of supporters and citizens, Ehiemere emphasized that APGA is currently free from the administrative crises that have paralyzed its rivals. He attributed this “political health” to the disciplined leadership of the National Chairman, Barrister Sly Eze Ezeokenwa, whose tenure has focused on consolidating the party’s grassroots structures. By maintaining a unified front, the party believes it has earned the trust of the electorate, particularly in its traditional heartland, where voters are increasingly looking for a credible alternative to the status quo.

Beyond internal party dynamics, Ehiemere framed APGA’s mission as a humanitarian one, centered on the urgent need to rescue the South-East and Nigeria at large from the twin shadows of terrorism and economic despair. He lamented the persistent insecurity that has plagued parts of the zone, but offered a message of hope, revealing that the party has activated comprehensive strategies to flush out criminal elements. This “rescue mission” is designed to restore the Igbo ancestral home to its former status as a safe and prosperous hub for commerce and industry.

The Vice Chairman was particularly vocal about the party’s ambitions for the 2027 general elections. He signaled a strategic offensive aimed at expanding APGA’s footprint beyond Anambra State, with a specific focus on reclaiming Abia State and the broader South-East. Ehiemere pointed to the governance model of Governor Charles Soludo in Anambra as the blueprint for this expansion. He argued that Soludo’s achievements in infrastructure and social welfare serve as a living testimony to what an APGA-led administration can offer other states in the region.

Central to this new vision is the concept of “indigenous politics.” Ehiemere urged Nigerians and the people of the South-East to remain loyal to the party, describing it as the most trusted platform for authentic regional representation. He argued that while other parties are beholden to external interests, APGA’s roots are firmly planted in the soil of the communities it serves. This “grassroots orientation” is what he believes will be the decisive factor when voters return to the polls to decide their future.

The message concluded with an appeal for unity and vigilance. As the political calendar moves closer to 2027, APGA is clearly shifting its gears from a defensive regional player to an assertive national contender. With its leadership crisis largely resolved following recent judicial affirmations, the party is betting that its current “health” will translate into a powerful electoral momentum. For Ehiemere and the APGA faithful, the goal is simple: to prove that a party built on grassroots loyalty and ideological clarity is the only force capable of delivering a secure and prosperous Nigeria.
