The Ogun State Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps, has successfully apprehended two suspected cultists and recovered an array of weapons including a locally fabricated pistol, a live cartridge, and one axe in the Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.

Dependable NG reports that the arrested suspects were identified as 22-year-old Raji Selim and 23-year-old Rafiu Saheed. A third suspect, 25-year-old Idowu Ganiu, is currently at large. The group is alleged to be responsible for the kidnapping and killing of residents in the area.

The Corps Deputy Commander, Tajudeen Bakare, confirmed the arrests in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Thursday. He stated that the suspects were intercepted at about 11 p.m. on Wednesday in the Owotedo area of Ajegunle Idirorko.

According to Bakare, the three suspects were riding on an unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle while allegedly on their way to carry out criminal operations. He explained that the arrests followed several intelligence reports at the disposal of the Agency, whose operatives had been trailing the gang for some time. The recovered exhibits—which included the pistol, live cartridge, axe, and the unregistered red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle—are consistent with their modus operandi as criminal elements terrorizing innocent people, particularly through kidnapping and murder.

The Deputy Commander stated that the two apprehended suspects, alongside the recovered exhibits, have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Eleweran, Abeokuta, for comprehensive investigation and prosecution. He concluded by urging members of the public, stakeholders, and parents to maintain a close watch on their wards, neighbors, and any suspicious persons in their communities.
