The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has officially registered Governor Siminalayi Fubara as a member of the ruling party, solidifying his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Dependable NG reports that the registration ceremony took place at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday, during a courtesy visit by the Tony Okocha-led state APC executive. A photograph shared by the media aide to the state APC chairman showed Governor Fubara placing his thumbprint in a book identified as the party’s register, confirming his enrollment.

The registration follows the Governor’s announcement earlier in the week regarding his intention to join the APC. Governor Fubara has previously explained that his move was necessary to fully align the state with President Bola Tinubu’s political direction, citing it as an act of appreciation for the President’s role in keeping his administration standing during recent political challenges. He stated that the defection was in the overall interest of the people and the stability of Rivers State.
