Klint Da Drunk Reveals Why He Abandoned Music Career for Comedy
Popular comedian Klint Da Drunk has revealed the precise reason why he made the crucial decision to switch his career path from music to comedy.
Dependable NG reports that in a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, Klint Da Drunk explained that while he was initially pursuing a career in music during his studies at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu, he ultimately gave up after watching music legend 2Face (now 2Baba), who was also a student at the school, perform at a campus event.
Recalling the pivotal moment, Da Drunk stated: “I used to be a musician until 2Face got admitted to my school, IMT. One day when he got on stage to perform at an event on campus, I left the hall. The organisers pleaded with me to stay back and perform when he is done.”
He continued: “I accepted but after hearing him sing just two lines, I went home. I didn’t know that my style and 2Face’s style were different. If I had known, I would continue making music. But thank God I didn’t continue. I like where I am.”
The comedian stressed that he has no regrets about quitting music for comedy, affirming his happiness with his current career path. Prior to focusing on comedy, Klint Da Drunk co-founded a music group with rapper Mr Raw and was featured in the popular Nigerian hip-hop song ‘Obodo.’ Their group came second in the Star Quest talent show in 2002, losing to another group, KC Presh. Following his success in the comedy industry, Klint Da Drunk expanded his career to star in over a dozen Nollywood movies, including titles like ‘Men On The Run,’ ‘Madam 10/10,’ and ‘Fast Cash.’
