Gospel Singer Gaise Baba Tops Nigeria’s 2025 YouTube Music Chart
YouTube has unveiled its official 2025 Nigeria Year-in-Review, spotlighting the music videos and digital creators that dominated viewing trends among Nigerian audiences. From the newly released list, gospel singer Akinade “Gaise Baba” Ibuoye and renowned Nollywood actress Omoni Oboli emerged as the most outstanding figures on the platform.
Dependable NG reports that the announcement was made through a statement signed by YouTube’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Addy Awofisayo.
Gaise Baba dominated the music category with his viral hit “No Turning Back II,” featuring Lawrence Oyor, finishing as the most-watched Nigerian music video on the platform for the year, beating major Afrobeats stars. The video, released in mid-May, quickly spread across the country and gathered more than 41 million views within six months, generating massive engagement from fans. The top music chart for 2025 featured a strong mix of Afrobeats and gospel hits, including Shallipopi’s “Laho,” Davido’s “With You” featuring Omah Lay, and Olamide, Seyi Vibez, Asake & Young John’s collaboration “Ninety Nine” featuring Daecolm. Other notable artists in the top echelon included Asake, Rema, Chella, and Wizkid, highlighting the rich diversity of Nigeria’s soundscape.
Leading the platform’s creators, Nollywood’s digital influence shone brightly, with Omoni Oboli’s channel, Omoni Oboli TV, finishing as the top content creator for the year. Other prominent creators who made the overall top 10 list included Ibrahim Yekini (Itelediconstudio), Uchenna Mbunabo (Uchenna Mbunabo TV), Aminu Saira (Saira Movies), Maurice Sam (Maurice Sam TV), Ruth Kadiri (RuthKadiri Two Four Seven), ApataTV Plus, Uche Montana (Uche Montana TV), Sonia Uche (Sonia Uche TV), and comedian Brain Jotter.
