Naira Records Appreciation Against US Dollar in Forex Markets
The Nigerian Naira achieved its first significant appreciation against the United States Dollar on Tuesday across both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets, signaling a minor positive shift in currency dynamics.
Dependable NG reports that data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) confirmed the gain in the official market. The Naira traded at N1,445.39 per dollar on Tuesday, marking a strengthening from the N1,448.44 rate recorded on Monday. This represents a day-on-day appreciation of N3.05.
This gain at the official trading window is the first recorded since last week, specifically November 26, 2025.
Similarly, the currency showed strength in the unofficial exchange segment. According to multiple Bureau de Change (BDC) operators in Abuja’s Wuse Zone 4, the Naira appreciated by N5 against the dollar in the parallel market, closing at N1,470 on Tuesday, a positive movement from the N1,475 recorded the preceding day.
This currency development comes at a time when Nigeria’s foreign reserves have continued their upward trajectory, rising further to $44.67 billion as of November 28. This increase in external buffers is seen as a key factor supporting the currency’s stability. The appreciation follows a period of depreciation recorded across the foreign exchange markets on Monday.
