The Ekiti State Government has moved to assure residents that they can proceed with their lawful activities without fear, emphasizing that the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji is in full control of the security situation within the state. This reassurance is specifically aimed at calming public anxiety over recent banditry reports in neighboring Kwara and Kogi states.

Dependable NG reports that the assertion was made by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Ogundana (retd.), during the quarterly security meeting held on Monday in Ado-Ekiti. The meeting convened heads of security agencies alongside chairmen of the 16 local government councils and 22 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), demonstrating a coordinated, grassroots approach to public safety.

General Ogundana firmly stated that residents should not panic over events in contiguous states, stressing that Governor Oyebanji is “fully on top” of the security architecture in Ekiti. He affirmed that Ekiti State maintains its status as one of the safest states in the country, a reputation he attributed to the government’s proactive strategies and the unwavering commitment of security agencies deployed heavily across border communities.

The security adviser acknowledged observing “unusual activities around states bordering Ekiti, particularly Kogi and Kwara,” which had raised concerns among the local populace. In response, he confirmed that the government had taken immediate steps, including meeting with traditional rulers and community leaders to assess threats and refine operational strategies.

He emphasized the need to prevent the insecurity from spilling over into Ekiti. “What is happening in Kogi and Kwara is affecting farmers, herders, and entire communities. We don’t want such incidents spilling into our state, and that is why government is doing everything possible to keep Ekiti safe,” he added. Ogundana concluded by commending residents for their cooperation and for consistently providing intelligence, urging them to remain vigilant and report all suspicious movements promptly.
